The
TF motorsport E Type D.H.C Registration NYP 234E was originally
sold on 13th Feb 1967 by Henley's Ltd London, to a Mr John.H.Worby
of Hitchin Herts. It then changed hands to a Mr John Byrne
of Bow London E3 on 14th November 1972. Then the next change
was to a Mr L Denton of Hendon Middx on 7th November 1974. Then
onto another John, Mr John Briggs of Wymondham Norfolk on 12th
May 1978. JB kept this car for many years until he decided the
old girl was ready for a re-build in the late 80's. |
|
 |
The car
was completely stripped and most of the original
shell was skipped away. New panels were purchased from Martin
Robey Engineering, who in the end assembled a virtually new
shell for JB. With the rest of the car in tea chests, cardboard
boxes, old draws etc the task was set for a rebuild in the very
early 90's. Then John Briggs employer of the time (Lotus Cars)
intervened |

A job offer in the USA that was to good to turn down saw Mr
& Mrs JB heading over the Atlantic. NYP 234E which had since
had a plate change to 200 DMJ was being stored at different
place across East Anglia. Gerry Taylor (MD of TF Motorsport)
got to hear of the car, and in a very strange way got to meet
John. A deal to sell was agreed on the 9th November 2004 between
the two so TFMS took on the project the John Briggs had started
15 years prior. |

The
body went to Mitchell's
Motor Repairs in Haverhill for a complete re-spray
as the shell had collected a few dings and scratches in its
hibernation. Every component including the engine, diff and
gearbox was stripped in the TFMS workshop by Dave Ketteridge
and Mike Webb. If it was originally plated, it was re-plated.
If it was originally painted, it was re-painted. All dampers,
bearings, seals and gators have been replaced in the front and
rear suspension. Ken Verity at Series One Spares 01709 838352
has supplied most of the |

parts
and the occasional bit of help over the phone. Engine has been
completely re-built in our workshop including a crank and flywheel
balance by Mike Jennings of Castle Hedingham. 200 DMJ is now
slowly going back together. Please use this site to keep an
eye on its progress ... |
